Westwood Holiday Open House

Join us at Historic Westwood for tours and holiday refreshments; enjoy Westwood decked out for the holidays!  Visit with Santa, enjoy refreshments, and listen to popular holiday music.  Tours will be from 1pm until 5pm. Free and open to the public.

Fall Stargazing

Join us at Marble Springs on Saturday, November 18th for our Fall nighttime viewing session. This session will be facilitated by Gary Noland, adjunct instructor of Astronomy at the University of Tennessee. Guests will meet at the cottage at 5:30 pm where they will begin with a discussion about the origin of the Pleiades and its impact on early civilization. The stargazing will begin at about 6:15 pm and go until 8:15 pm where guests will search the night sky for the Pleiades star cluster as well planets that are visible during the fall months. Participation in our nighttime viewing sessions is a $1 donation per person.  Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. Participants may bring their own telescopes or binoculars, but there will be some telescopes available for public use. In the event of overcast skies, the discussion portion will still take place. Details are subject to change.

Fall Clean Up at Marble Springs

With the arrival of autumn comes the need for cleaning up our front gate area and landscaping our new pollinator garden. Please join us at Marble Springs on Saturday, November 11th from 11:00 – 4:00 pm as we lay the grounds to rest for winter.

Activities will include landscaping the pollinator garden, leaf clearing the front entrance, and more. Lunch will be provided.

Mysterious Past of Blount Mansion

It’s that time of the year! Ghosts, goblins, witches, haints, and The Mysterious Past of Blount Mansion.

Our annual Halloween event will be bigger and better than ever this year. There will be ghost stories, scary legends, history about death and dying in the 18th and 19th centuries, and more! There will be candy for the kids and some extra special fun with our other house on-site ,the Craighead-Jackson House, one of the most haunted sites in Knoxville!

We will have three tours starting at 8, 9, and 10 o’clock P.M. on Saturday October 28th.

On Monday October 30th and Tuesday October 31st we will have tours at 8 and 9 o’clock P.M.

Tickets can be purchased before the event at our Square site.  Just use the link below and select which tour you would like to go on. Tours will fill up fast so reserve your tickets today.

Trunk or Treat!

Join us at Marble Springs for some Halloween fun! Families can enjoy a bonfire and trick-or-treating at the 35 acre scenic historic property and five historic structures that will be eerily lit by candlelight. Families will also have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Halloween decorations and beautiful fall scenery. Trunk-or-treat at Marble Springs State Historic Site is a fun and safe event for families to enjoy Halloween festivities.

For those wishing to bring your vehicle to participate in the trunk-or-treat portion of the event, please call and register.  Simply bring your candy and participate in bringing Halloween fun to this community event. Decoration of your vehicle is encouraged, but not required. Set up for the event will take place from 4:00 till 5:00.

This event is free. Donations are appreciated and all proceeds will go towards educational programming and the continued maintenance of Marble Springs State Historic Site.

Statehood Day at Marble Springs

June 1, 2017 marks the 221st anniversary of Tennessee’s admission as the 16th state in the year 1796. In conjunction with the Historic Homes of Knoxville, Marble Springs State Historic Site will commemorate this occasion with a weekend of Living History.

Saturday, May 27 from 10am-5pm walk amongst Living History interpreters in 18th Century clothing portraying life on the frontier. Militia drills along with demonstrations of 18thCentury life. The celebration will continue into Sunday, May 28 from 11-4pm with Living History encampments and various interpreters. Children’s activities include falling into a militia drill with the reenactors. Militia camps will be open between activities. Blacksmithing, weaving, and open hearth cooking will be demonstrated all weekend. A full schedule of events will be available at www.marblesprings.net. This event is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated.

Molsey’s Mothers Day Flower Pot

Come to Blount Mansion on Saturday, May 13th to make a beautiful gift for Mom for Mother’s Day. We’ll be painting flower pots and potting up flowers to brighten Mom’s day! Cost is $5 per child.
