Holiday Open House at Crescent Bend

Join us on Saturday, December 2nd from 1:00pm-5:00pm for Crescent Bend’s Holiday Open House.  Step back into time where Docents will escort you on a tour of the Eighteenth Century furniture, decorative arts and the outstanding collection of English silver.  Authentic holiday decorations using greenery, berries, fruits and nuts will adorn every room.  With eight Christmas trees, wreaths and candles in every window, a kissing ball with mistletoe, and the air filled with a wafting aroma of cinnamon and spices, you don’t want to miss this special holiday event!

This event is free and open to the public.

Statehood Day at Crescent Bend

Crescent Bend House & Gardens is one of the Southeast’s finest house museums and gardens. Built in 1834 by Drury Paine Armstrong, Crescent Bend was once a 900-acre working farm and so named for its prominent setting overlooking a majestic crescent bend in the Tennessee River just west of downtown Knoxville. Enjoy free tours today, in celebration of Tennessee Statehood Day!

Derby Day

Come celebrate the 143rd Run for the Roses on the first leg of the Triple Crown Series for a jam-packed Derby day full of fun!

Enjoy a Mint Julep in an official souvenir Derby Glass and a Traditional Kentucky Derby buffet of Bourbon Glazed Tenderloin, Burgoo, Baby Hot Browns, Southern Fried Chicken, Cheese Grits Casserole, Finchville Farms Country Ham & Beaten Biscuits, Hall’s on the River Beer Cheese Spread, Ruth Hunt Bourbon Balls & Crème Pull Candy, plus Famous Kerns Derby Pie with Homemade Horse-Churned Ice Cream.

 Activities for Derby Day include:  Ladies Hat Contest • Men’s Best Dressed Contest •   Run for the Roses Flower Show • Antique Carriage Display • Horseshoe Pitching Contest • Burgoo Cooking Demonstration • Miniature, Percheron, and Thoroughbred Horses• Official Kentucky Derby Museum Gift Shop • Silent Auction • Barn Door Prize Giveaways • Silent Auction • Horse Show • Cruise aboard the Star of Knoxville Riverboat

 Each Derby Day ticket purchase will also include a 1-year unlimited “Annual Pass” to tour Crescent Bend.  Derby Day is the Annual Fundraiser of Historic Crescent Bend.

Proceeds for this event go to The Toms Foundation for the continuing maintenance and preservation of Historic Crescent Bend House & Gardens.

Hats Off to Fashion Tea

This tea features a fashion show with models wearing the newest spring and summer Lilly Pulitzer dresses from the Palm Village Shop at Western Plaza. Each model will accessorize with a beautiful hat (suitable for Derby Day and other social occasions) provided by Crescent Bend. After the fashion show and a tea provided by Bradford Catered Events, you may enjoy the colorful gardens!

Cost is $24.95 per adult & $15.00 per child. Price also includes the cost of admission to tour the house museum and gardens. For times and to make tea reservations please call Crescent Bend at 865-637-3163. (For groups of 30 or more, additional dates and tea times can be arranged at any time of the year.)

Tulips, Teas, and Treats

Join us at Crescent Bend for an afternoon of springtime fun! Enjoy a delightful high tea by Bradford Catered Events, stroll through the tulips, and tour the rooms of our 1834 home. Mast General Store will treat us to a program featuring the history of some favorite old – fashioned candies just in time to fill your Easter baskets!
